Reducing barriers. Improving efficiency. Expanding housing choices.
Alpine Civil Engineering Consultants Ltd., in collaboration with Small Housing BC and SNDBOX, supported the City of Prince George in developing a comprehensive implementation strategy to accelerate the delivery of small-scale multi-unit housing (SSMUH). The project evaluated municipal infrastructure, zoning compatibility, permitting processes, standardized housing opportunities, and implementation pathways to help increase housing supply through gentle-density infill.
Together, the project team developed an integrated strategy that combined technical analysis, policy recommendations, standardized housing approaches, and modernized permitting processes to reduce development barriers and support more efficient housing delivery. Alpine led the evaluation of municipal permitting processes and operational workflows, helping develop a tiered approval framework that improves coordination, streamlines reviews, and provides more predictable approvals for builders and homeowners.
